Meet Pastor Harper
I’m Pastor Herbert Harper, and I’m grateful to share a bit of my journey with you.
I was born on June 13, 1959, in Atlanta, Texas, to V.T. and Vera Harper. My life began with strong values, and after graduating from Atlanta High School in 1972, I felt called to serve in the United States Army, where I learned the importance of discipline and commitment. My service lasted until 1975, after which I transitioned into the workforce, first at Red River Army Depot and then in Fairbanks, Alaska, at the North Pole Oil Refinery. Eventually, I found a new path with International Paper Company.
In August 1982, I married my best friend, Pamala Turner, and together, we adopted our wonderful son, Taj. Our family has been a source of immense joy and support throughout my life. A pivotal moment came in November 1998 when I truly sought the Lord and experienced a profound transformation through salvation and the Holy Spirit. This moment of spiritual awakening set the stage for the next chapter of my life.
By May 2000, I felt a powerful calling to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. My first role in ministry was as the Assistant Pastor at Roach Church of God in Christ, where I served from 2000 to 2004. Since then, I’ve had the honor of pastoring the Queen City Church of God in Christ in Queen City, Texas. It has been a fulfilling 20-year journey, and I am continually amazed by the ways God is working in our community.

One of my favorite scriptures is Isaiah 45:22: “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” This verse encapsulates my heart’s desire to point others to the hope and salvation found in Jesus Christ. My mission is to serve with compassion, guide others on their spiritual paths, and nurture a community grounded in faith and love.

I look forward to meeting you and sharing in our journey of faith together.
